Keeping Cyclists Engaged During Lockdown (And Driving Email Database Growth)
One of the key challenges facing many brands during the COVID-19 crisis has been to remain front of mind as much as possible among their target customer while putting paid media spend on hold. This is a particular challenge for brands operating in more commoditised sectors, such as finance, for example.
As an insurer, we knew this would be an important time for our client Pedalsure to boost their content marketing activity and stay in the minds of road cyclists with consumer confidence looking increasingly uncertain.
With the classics - cycling’s biggest one-day races- on hold this year we created a series of mobile-optimised quizzes for Pedalsure focused on the classics to help ease the pain for cycling fans. Promoted across Pedalsure’s social channels which we’ve helped grow significantly to a combined audience of more than 35,000 cycling enthusiasts across the key social platforms - including a rapidly growing Strava club. One quiz each week during the classics season to coincide with the classic that would have been held but for the lockdown. Get enough questions right on each quiz and a year’s membership to Strava - every cyclist’s favourite app - was up for grabs.
Results
The result? 11,000+ views, 5,000 quiz completions and a very sizeable new email database generated for our client.
